Utrecht University aims for 100% open access publishing, but does not make it mandatory. We advise you to make use of Green open access, through the Taverne scheme.

What is Green open access via the Taverne scheme? 

• The book to which you are contributing will be published as a closed-access publication by the publisher, but you can make your own chapter open access via the UU Repository. 
• The chapter will become open access six months after publication. 
• This route is free of charge for authors. 
• The open-access version will be subject to the same licence as the closed version. 

How does the funding work? 

This route of open access publishing is free of charge. The initial publication of the closed version with the publisher may involve costs. 

How do I follow this route? 

Upload the chapter in Pure if it isn’t already there. The university library will take care of the rest.
