Book chapters

In its open access policy, ZonMW has not included requirements for open access publishing of books and book chapters. 

If the editor of the edited volume to which you are contributing opts for diamond or gold open access, your chapter will immediately be made open access. If the editor chooses to publish behind a paywall, we recommend that you use green open access via the Taverne scheme.

What is green open access, via the Taverne scheme? 

• The book to which you are contributing is published closed access by the publisher.
• Your chapter will be made available in the UU Repository six months after the book’s publication. 
• This route is free of charge for authors. 
• The open access version will be subject to the same licence as the closed version. 

How do I follow this route? 

Upload the (publisher’s version of the) chapter to Pure if it isn’t already there. The university library will take care of the rest.
