Budget-friendly open access

You have indicated that you would like to know more about low-cost options.   

Do you have little or no research budget available to cover publication costs? And would you like to publish open access? When you publish an article, book or book chapter, the following options involve little to no cost to you as the author: 

• Diamond open access: the costs are covered by the academic community. 
• Gold open access, via an open access deal: the costs are covered by Utrecht University or by Universities in the Netherlands. 
• Hybrid open access, via an open access deal: these are also covered by Utrecht University or by Universities in the Netherlands.
• Green open access: this route does not involve any costs. However, please note that if you use the Taverne scheme, your publication will not be covered by an open licence. The publisher retains ownership of the copyright to the article. As a result, you and others will have fewer options for reusing or sharing the work, for example.
